Yabo Tenmangu
谷保天満宮

Shrine

Kunitachi, Tokyo

Yabo Tenmangu is a centuries-old shrine with spacious grounds, dedicated to the god Tenjin. It is said to be the oldest Tenmangu shrine in the Kanto region, being built in 903 AD. The shrine has a grove of about 350 red and white ume (plum) trees, and has also been known for its roaming roosters. However, around 2023 the roosters were apparently bought by someone, so you won’t find them here anymore, unless the shrine has obtained new ones. If you have any information, please contact me and I will update this information.
