Omiya, Saitama

Musashi Ichinomiya Hikawa Shrine is one of the oldest and most important shrines in the Kanto region, with a history stretching back over 2,400 years, traditionally dated to the reign of Emperor Koshin. It serves as the head shrine for more than 280 Hikawa shrines across Japan. The grounds are huge, with long tree-lined paths, ponds, and old forest sections that make you forget you’re in the city.
