Hōrinji, also known as Darumadera, is a small temple complex in a quiet neighborhood near Enmachi Station in Kyoto. Founded in the 18th century, it’s famous for its collection of more than 8,000 donated daruma dolls of all sizes, each representing Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen. People come here to pray for long life, happiness, and protection from illness and bad luck.
