Shrine

Takasaki, Gunma

Haruna Shrine is an impressive mountain shrine that is built into a narrow, mossy gorge with towering rock formations on all sides. The path to the main hall leads past bridges, lanterns, and steep cliffs. The shrine’s origins date back more than than 1,400 years, to the late 6th century. It’s dedicated to deities of water, fire, and agriculture, and many visitors come to pray for good fortune, success, and harmony.
