Shrine

Ohara, Kyoto

Ebumi Shrine sits in the quiet, forested mountains of the Ohara rural area north of Kyoto. It offers a deeply peaceful and secluded atmosphere. Its exact founding year is unknown, but historical records and local legends trace its origins back to the Heian period. The shrine serves as the primary guardian sanctuary (ujigami) for the eight historical villages of the Ohara region. The Kyoto Trail hiking route passes nearby.
